Cooking one meal for the whole family, indulging babies and toddlers can be tricky, but Aleesha from Me & The Young shares a recipe with us today that is sure to be a hit with everyone!

At my daughter’s six-month check up the nurse showed me a chart. It showed the same meal three ways. This inspired me to stop cooking a million meals and to start streamlining the dinner process.

Cooking this way also has benefits for me and my husband because there is some accountability in the amount of vegetables we eat. I have to ask myself WILMCET? (would I let my child eat that) and if the answer is no, it’s best that I hide in the cupboard and quickly devour it so that it never actually happened. That’s how it works isn’t it? If a tree falls in the forest blah blah blah?

I asked the question on my facebook page the other day, how many ingredients is too many to substitute? The reason I asked, wasn’t really rhetorical, I really wanted Chicken Cacciatore but literally had none of the ingredients that my recipe asked for.

So I came up with this. I don’t know what to call it, but it’s kind of like Cacciatore’s Cousin. Anything that can get my family unknowingly downing this volume of vegetables is a winner!

Once it was cooked I left about one serving left in the base of the bowl, and added pasta and a few dashes of cooled boiled water. I then blended this for 30 seconds to make baby food.

If you’re using this recipe as baby food, you may choose to leave salt and pepper out until the end.

For my toddler, I shaped it into a love heart on a Peppa Pig plate and coated it in cheese, apparently later that night she told my husband she had cheese for dinner… Which she basically did ughhh.
