We are huge fans of Designer Bums at One Fine Baby! A regular at our Sydney and Melbourne Baby Expo, Designer Bums are hot property, attracting huge crowds for their range of modern cloth nappies, smocks, play mats and more. Now we are thrilled to welcome this beautiful Melbourne-based business to the virtual shelves of One Fine Baby Shop - but first, let us introduce you to Carla Schwef, owner of Designer Bums, and learn a little more about this beautiful brand...

Designer Bums first launched 11 years ago, as a small but very popular cloth nappy business, with nappies hand-sewn at a home in Melbourne.

The business continued to grow, but when the original owner decided to close it down Carla reached out and purchased Designer Bums - eventually turning it into the thriving brand it is today. With a background in fashion retail, product development and marketing, Carla saw the potential in Designer Bums - and as a new mother herself, she saw the waste that comes with having a baby, and saw it as an opportunity to spend more time at home with her baby whilst doing something positive for the planet.

Sustainability and a commitment to the environment is at the heart of everything Designer Bums produce.

Designer Bums was born out of a need for stylish and high-quality nappies that wouldn’t harm the environment. They are conscious about reducing landfill and creating products that are gentle on babies and the planet, and it's carried through to all aspects of their business. They use the highest quality OEKO-TEX and GOTS certified materials available that are eco-focused, natural and organic where possible and free of toxins, and their packaging is fully biodegradable or compostable, plant-based packaging.

Everything Designer Bums produces has sustainability at the heart - from their origins with reusable nappies, to organic cotton bedlinen, to wet bags, smocks, play mats and now reusable sanitary pads, Carla is committed to educating others without guilt and with products that make it fun to be eco-conscious and bring joy to mundane parenting tasks. Designer Bums also supports over 15 different charities - truly a business for good!

Designer Bums' cloth nappies feature the unique designs of local and overseas artists and designers, and this extends to their entire range of products. They exclusively commission genuine and limited-edition prints from talented local artists, with new prints every season.

Not just reusable cloth nappies...

Designer Bums' range has expanded from its original range of stylish, colourful and fun modern cloth nappies, to include a whole range of nursery essentials. From beautiful organic muslin swaddles, organic jersey cotton cot sheets, single bed sheets, pillowcases and change pad covers, to change pads and award-winning wet bags in a range of sizes - perfect for day care, day trips out, laundry hampers and more - Designer Bums has all of your nursery essentials.

We love their art smocks (available in 3 sizes), which are perfect for starting solids and messy play, and we are obsessed with their play mats! Featuring a waterproof printed fabric on one side and a luxurious black bamboo velour on the opposite side, they're a huge 130cm and perfect for indoor or outdoor play (picnic rug, anyone?).

Recently Designer Bums launched a collection of reusable sanitary pads in various sizes (including one suitable for maternity!) and reusable soft bamboo nursing pads - helping new mums reduce their waste, comfortably and with style.
