The innovative husband and wife team behind Snap Shades, Daniel and Jenny, are the geniuses behind UV car sunshades gracing our vehicles and protecting our babies everywhere!

What was the inspiration behind Snap Shade’s first car shade?

As new parents, we were on the market for car products to keep our baby safe and well protected. Along with a safe car seat, we knew we needed good sun protection given the harmful UV rays in Australia and the amount of time we spend driving on a daily basis.However, after searching extensively in baby stores and online for car window shades, we couldn’t find a decent looking and practical option within our budget.With this in mind, we launchedSnap Shades–a stylish, practical and affordable product to help you protect your passengers from UV rays.

Tell us about your background and training?

I am an Electrical Engineer with a major in power, energy, controls and automation. Prior toSnap Shades I was a Control System Engineer upgrading power stations around Australia.

You run the Snap Shades business with your wife and co - founder Jenny. What is it like working together?

My wife and I run the business together to provide shades to help parents like us. It is great!We get to bounce ideas off each other as we strive for a common goal as a team.

Tell us about the research and development stage of Snap Shades car shades?

It took well over a year of research and development, testing etc to get to our first prototype, as I was juggling between full-time work and night time design. It took months before we finally stocked Snap Shades for around 30 car models. Now we cover shades for over 220 models-and we are still expanding our range constantly.

What is the Snap Shades goal?

Our mission is to help protect passengers using a stylish, practical and affordable product.

How do you feel when you see cars with babies behind Snap Shades window shades?

It gives us great motivation when we see Snap Shades installed in a vehicle. It motivates us to increase our range, improve our product and go around Australia to let people know that we exist and can help them help to protect their little passengers from harmful UV rays.

What is important for parents to know about Snap Shades?

Our Snap Shades are made vehicle specific and it provides the full cover of the rear door windows of your vehicle. Snap Shades use embedded magnets that snaps either to the metal frame of your car door or to magnetic mounts for vehicles with non-metal window frames. They are installed on the inside of the car and offer a practical and stylish solution.
