When it comes to designing your new nursery, you want it to be just as beautiful as your baby is. So, with that in mind, we’ve put together three of this season’s hottest interior trends to give you all the inspiration you’ll need.

With its warm wooden furniture and rich cosy throws, our favorite trend of the season, Scandinavian, is perfect for winter-born babies. Set the Scandi theme off and make a statement with Spoon Flower’s forest tree wallpaper (1), or order the print as a fabric for custom made bedding. We love Lilly and Lolly’s (2) little white bunny lamp that is just too cute to handle, and Willow and Wood’s alp shelf (3) that simply couldn’t be more perfect for this theme! Curl up for bedtime stories under Scout’s simple but luxurious alpaca geo-print throw (4), our favorite colours for this trend are the mint green and dark indigo.

The Scandi theme is all about stylish simplicity and quirky minimalism, so choose almost any piece from furniture brand Plyroom and you can’t go wrong. We love their Ava Cot (5) that doubles as a day bed for toddlers, saving you money in the long run. And it doesn’t stop there – flip this cot over and it transforms into a desk! You can also pick up Plyroom’s matching chest of drawers that just evoke Scandinavian simplicity.

For new parents, nursery décor sometimes becomes restricted by your newborn’s gender, but this shouldn’t be the case. Another one of the most fashionable trends of the moment, both on and off the catwalk, is Black and White. What’s great about this theme is that, not only is it gender neutral, but the basic colour palette means it will stay in fashion for a long while, without clashing with the rest of your home.

For the focal part of the room, and the most important feature, we love Incy’s timeless metallic Harry Cot (1), topped with Scout’s arrow print fitted cot sheet and matching grey stitched quilt (2). Use Lilly and Lolly’s string fairy lights to add soft lighting to the room, perfect for those early morning feeds when you don’t want too bright a light. Tie together accessories by teaming The Eastern Traders cosy black, white and grey felt ball rug, with Down To The Wood’s monochrome felt ball garland (3) available at Lilly and Lolly. Finish the room with a few cute monochrome teddies and toys such as Moma Le Shop’s super-cute Super Ted from The Gathered Store (4).

Onto our last theme of the moment, Pastels! When you’re expecting a little girl, it’s almost impossible to steer away from this one, pale pinks are perfect for little princesses and this theme can really grow with your girl. If you want to add a little edge to this one and avoid the ‘pink is for girls’ cliché, throw in some cool greys to add a modern twist, just like Kate & Kate’s ‘The Love Letter’ baby blanket (1). For the focal part of the room, we’re just in love with This Little Love’s Cubby house bed – the innovative and quirky design of this bed is perfect for any princess’ palace, and can be painted in any colour of your choice.

Use wall decals to add detail to the room, these are great for following trends because they are easy to remove when you want to restyle. Perfect for the pastel theme is Lilly and Lolly’s cute Elephant Parade set. Pick up on the bunting in the background of the decal and grab Homely Creatures felt petal bunting (2) – we also love their ‘To the moon and back’ wall hanging in pink (3). Ready for when your girl grows out of her crib, grab Incy’s Polly retro style bed (4) from their recently launched Polly range. Finish the room off with Little P’s pink and grey Silver Linings cloud shaped rug.
